Im thinking about upgrading to a 5d from a T2i in a little bit and was wondering if the 5d had a 59.94 fps option like the t2i. I love this function because it gives me smooth slow motion. I know they had a 24p firmware update but didnt know if they did it for the this as well. If not then what do 5d users use for smooth slow motion?

No it doesn't. The 5D only shoots in 24p (23.976) and 30p (29.97), but both at full 1080p.

^^^ Makes sense. Last question. Is the image quality, low light ability and full frame sensor enough to spend 2500+ for if I already have a T2i or should I just stick with what I have and spend that extra money on lenses, etc.? (Photog specs dont matter because I only use this strickly for video.)

You seem to understand the benefits of the 5D, only you can know if its worthwhile to spend the extra money. Will the 2500 be a good return on investment for your applications/purposes.

honestly a lot of people like to use the 7D over the 5D because it has more features but I had the chance to play with both side by side and 5D image quality is definitely better and it is very VERY noticeable in lower light, by a mile!, and image quality is some thing you can't work around. So Im going to have to say the 5D.

The 5D gives much more rich colors

Better Low light

30p can do slow motion just not as much as 60

twixtor is good but doesn't always work on some shots...nothing is as good as in camera slow motion...

To be honest the 720p mode the Canons has so many line skipping and moire issues that I rarely use it even though I used to shoot at 60fps on my EX1 all the time...

Philip,
Could you show us an example of what you mean? I film profesional paintball and use
Exclusively (7D) and maybe my eyes are not trained like yours. But I would like to see an example please.
Thanks

When you have the cash get the 5D, but better keep the T2 body for slow motion and a b-cam

Im kinda confused on why they only made a 24p firmware update for the 5D and not a 60, this would be a HUGE HUGE leap! can't magic lantern come up with some ideas on how to do this?
