576/50i lines in p2 viewer

Hi,

I was trying out dvcpro50 (576/50i)and found that when played back in the p2viewer lines appeared whenever there was movement. Its hard to tell but it also looks to be the same on the camera lcd.

Anyone know what is happening?

Yes. You're viewing interlaced footage on a progressive display. That's what happens.

Try viewing it on an interlaced television and you won't see any lines.
 
Your system may not be fast enough to play back 1080/50i at full rate, or (more likely) you haven't changed the playback quality control in P2 Viewer to show full frame. By default P2 Viewer only shows one field, so obviously you wouldn't see the interlacing, but if you have a fast system and show the full frame you'll see interlacing. (I think... my system's not fast enough to play 1080i either!)
