555-0123

Try calling 555-1212
That's the number for the TellMe Networks toll-free directory assistance.... they also have the Tellme Voice Portal, accessed by calling 1-800-555-TELL (8355).
That's because only 555-0100 through 555-0199 are now specifically reserved for fictional use... all other 555 numbers are starting to be assigned.

555-1212 has always been directory assistance (as long as I can remember). Nice thing was you prepend the area code and get right to where you want to be.

The "555" prefix convention was around long before the Tommy TuTone song.

My wife's grandfather's office phone # in Meriden, IA was . . . 24.

More than that, I dated someone in Seattle who had moved there from Wyoming. Her (non-vanity) Wyoming license plate number at the time she moved was 3.

What are you, 147 years old?

There have been plenty of films/shows that have set up recordings for numbers in the show. I cant even remember the last time I heard "555".

I've seen the number around. Can't remember where, but recently I was watching Bruce almighty, and the number 555-0123 was important as it was the number for god's office on Bruce's beeper. frustrated the hell out of me.

Google Voice allows you to set up a free phone number in the area code of your choice. From there, you can set it to either forward to a real phone, take messages, etc.

I haven't heard of anyone using those in movies before, but it might be an interesting idea.

In the theater it was an actual phone number, not a 555 number. It was 766-2323. I remember seeing that and thinking, "Wait ... what?! That's a real phone number!" It was. Rumor has it that a lot of people were calling this number to talk to God. I guess they can't decipher reality vs. a movie. I also heard that in one place the number actually was to a church ... where a Bruce was the pastor. But you know how rumors go on the interwebs.
