5200 or 7100? coming from Canonland

How have you been liking the d5200 lpowell?
I upgraded from the D5100, and the D5200 is a winner in every respect. I shoot both still photos and videos, and the fold-out LCD on the D5x00 models was a crucial requirement for me. The only D7100 feature I miss is the lens-specific micro-focus adjustments, but where precision is required, the D5200's LCD magnification can be used for fine manual focusing. For photography, the fabulous dynamic range of the 24Mpix sensor is unmatched by anything short of a full-frame DSLR, and is a huge advantage in post-processing.

On the video side, the D5200 is a strong contender with the GH2, and fills in many of its technical shortcomings. Where the GH2 is weak is in its poor low-light noise performance and limited usable ISO range. The D5200's vast dynamic range allows me to do something I'd never try on the GH2 in low light: set shutter and aperture where I want them and rely on the camera to find an appropriate ISO for each shot. The GH2 produces beautiful results when you have full control over lighting, but cannot match Nikon's ability to handle unconstrained shooting conditions.

See some of the photo sides features pushed me to make the jump to the 7100.

I have a few autofocus lenses that required a body with a focus motor. That and the headphone jack were big draws tot he 7100 for me. I really do want a flip out LCD screen though. So nice.

I'm definitely impressed with the DR in this camera and the way it holds highlights.

Very impressed by the amount of detail I have been able to pull out of shots so far.

Really happy with these cameras, the toshiba sensor appears to be a winner.

This! About the only thing I miss on my now sold GH3 is the flip out LCD. D7100 is a beast.
