50P F35 Footage

Beautiful stuff, I'm generally not a fan of K35s but for that sort of material they work wonders.

Honestly, for a lot of stuff they would probably use that without much grading at all - certainly for music videos, etc...

I'd blame me missing focus more than the lenses. I was really run-and-gun with it, shooting into the sun without proper shading. The t1.4 stuff at night is obviously harder to get tack sharp as well, but I'm happy with what I'm seeing - think I'll do some more technical tests this weekend.

Anyways here's a rough grade done in an hour late last night. Multiple LUTs in there (osiris, kodak, fuji, arri), seems the Macgregor cineon conversion LUTs add more noise but still look great to my eye, not sure if it's even ness. for prores footage? I'm not a hot shot colorist by a long shot and am really hoping for some more technical feedback in this forum. I love the learning process and see a ton of flexibility with the footage when I play with it. Thanks for any thoughts!

I think you captured a mood very well with the time of day and the slowed motion. What was your handheld system for this shoot?

One thing I forgot to mention is that I interpreted the 50P to 24P in Premiere. This caused problems when I tried to import an XML in Resolve, the timecode was off and it would reference the wrong parts of the clip in the Resolve timeline. So looks like in the future I'll be conforming 50P clips to 24P in Resolve (or Cinema Tools/Quicktime Edit?) before bringing them in to edit in Premiere - unless someone knows a better way?

Nice! I bought a set of K35's new back around 1980. I pretty much threw them in to sweeten the deal when I sold all my film gear years ago. Who would have known back then that you would be able to use all these old lenses on modern video cameras. :Drogar-Evil(DBG):
