503 Tilt Lock

I've decided I'm going to buy the Manfrotto 503 head and was looking at some catalogues I had and also on Manfrotto's site and noticed the tilt lock is on the right hand side which I thought was a bad design. I then went to Bogen's site and the picture there has the tilt lock on the left hand side for the first 2 pics which makes more sense..however the third pic has it on the right hand side again.

Which is it?

Re: 503 Tilt Lock

Thanks John. I certainly will..I just found it really wierd. To me it makes more sense on the left side (if the the lens is pointing in front of you) since I pan with my right hand so if I need to lock my tilt it would be awkward to reach over with my free left hand and lock it on the right.

Isn't the 501 tilt on the left side?

Re: 503 Tilt Lock

I have a 503 and it is on the right side. I did not like it a t first but you get use to it... mike

Barry-

That pic you just posted is what mine looks like, and most others i've seen.

Re: 503 Tilt Lock

cool Kai...that's certainly re-assuring. I think they must have changed the design or the pictures have been flipped.

Re: 503 Tilt Lock

Jeez you guys!
The lock is on the left when you're operating the camera.
Tension control is on the right. The large knob under the head is pan tension control. it's been that way since the 503 was released.
Please post pictures of what you're smokin'.
