500 as a P2 deck?

Hey does anyone know if it's possible to use the 500 or 200 as a P2 deck and record a playback in HD out of a final cut system over firewire to a P2 card?

Any of the P2 cameras can take a firewire input and record it to the cards. Just go into MCR mode and turn the thumbnails off.

The HVX cannot pass the HD signal out its component outputs to a monitor, but the HPX170 can. Don't recall whether the HPX500 can or not.

The 500 will output the clips to all the outputs when in playback mode. Not sure if it does it while taking a firewire signal however.

The 500's ability to operate as a "deck" opens up lots of possibilities.
You can even use the RC10G to roll clips from a 500. With the camera running in overcrank you've even got a poor mans HD Slow Motion instant replay system. And the menus can be output over the composite out while the HDSDI out is clean. Meaning your engineer can go into the menus even while the cam is live and see the menus remotely. Works really cool with a camplex system.
