I'm shooting a short film in august with the HVX and M2, and I'm debating between whether to shot in 720pn24 or pro50.
Card space is not an issue, we've got that covered, but I'm thinking more about resolution and compression.
From the shots i've seen and when I've downrezzed shots from 720pn video in photoshop to SD, I can see barely any resolution difference between the HD shots from the M2/hvx setup and a downconverted SD version. This makes me wonder if shooting in HD with the M2/hvx is really even worth it and whether I shouldn't just shoot in SD.
The main reason I'd lean more towards pro50 than 720pn is because of the compression. 50 is only a 3.3:1 compression while HD has 6.6:1. The last thing I'd want to do is shoot in HD and introduce compression artifacts for very neglegible resolution difference.
What are your guys' thoughts? Was the M2 callibrated poorly in the HVX shots that I saw?
