preorder anyone ??? :nads::nads:

Seen these things at work. worked on a photo shoot for disney brochures and they had a firewire running straight out of the back to a set of G-Raid HDD's. 90 MB per tiff image. hmm...

There is another German camera that has been out for about three years that has a 128 megabyte sensor that was about $80 grand for stills. It creates huge files. I can't remember the name but I'll see if I can find it.

The amount of shooting I do, I would need to fill my closet with terabyte drives at 300mb per image:) I would love to see some large prints from this bad boy though. Also I would be curious to see what an 800x600 melted down for web image would look like as say 300kb. It's going to be interesting to see who adopts this camera on the pro circuit and the shots they produce. price point is going to be interesting too. Thanks for pointing this out Dxmetal.

I heard about this when it was announced...you have to shoot tetherd to a mac mini

This type of camera is only good for studio work not events. File sizes are way to big and camera is too slow. I really am not impressed by more megapixels these cameras are really noisy at the mid-high isos to the point where I would rather half the resolution sharp glass and a clean canon or nikon sensor. The one thing I do wish I had with these cameras is the crazy dynamic range that comes with the large sensors, it is very impressive.

There are more than one german camera that uses large sensors for studio work, didn't make it clear.

Haaahhahahahah!
Geez... can you imagine the photo retoucher who has to fix all those blemishes?
Filters FTW! quick, invest stock in Nik and other software filters lol.

Geez... and I was bitching about the detail I have to clean up on a 12 mp images

The previous megaest pixel back was 39 MPix, so the jump, step, to 50 MPix is actually insignificant. Linear resolution gain is only 1.13 fold (square root of 50/39) which is nothing.

Problem with these backs is that midformat lenses, not even Hasselblad, do not resolve well enough to get the true pixel resolutions advertised. Some view camera lens makers make new "digital" series of lenses, only those are able to make a picture good enough for these sensors. And even those only at large apertures, as the diffraction steps in if you close down to f8 or smaller.

Those super megapixel cameras mentioned earlier are scanning backs, not single exposure. That means you need looooong exposures to get the full resolution image, Talking about minutes or even hours, not fractions of a second.
