5 Months after my HEART ATTACK!!!

Thnx Ian and Isaac, and hit me up anytime Ian

I think that sounds very wise.
Unfortunately it leaves me in a space where I'm too Christian sounding to my atheist and non-christian friends and too secular sounding to my Christian friends. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be open minded in a Manichean world LOL

I wouldn't worry about how you sound to one bunch or the other. Trying to satisfy everybody is usually good for satisfying nobody.

Yeah, and I hate you for being so open minded. Can't you just decide for one side?

Just kidding of course :D Good to hear you are doing well! Keep it up man!

congrats rakesh. i too need to lose a serious amount of weight. what has your exercise schedule been like the past 5 months?f

Uga, if your location wasn't "the grill" you might have a better shot at losing that weight. :D

Perhaps we should create a new thread…

! get at least 1hr of vigorous activity everyday, walk a couple of miles, yard work, the gym... whatever...
When I first started I was at the gym EVERYDAY, becasue I needed the cardio for my vascular health and blood pressure control. But now I'm at the gym 3 times a week, I do 30-40 minutes of pretty high intensity cardio (heart rate in the 140s) followed by 30-40 minutes of weights. I find that to be the best combo, building muscle mass really helps raise your bodies metabolic needs and as long as you keep your calories low you can easly drop 1/2lb a day! But controling calories can be a *****. We are sooooo addicted to food.
Speaking of calories and food, I find that a low fat vegan diet works wonders not only for losing weight but for stopping and even reversing heart disease and diabetes and studies have shown it's a great cancer fighter/preventer as well. Don't get sucked into the protein myth meat eaters spew. Excess protein in your diet is only good if you want brittle bones. Your body can store fat, it can store carbs but it can't store protein so it ends up eliminating it. To do this it binds it with calcium and you pee it out, but guess where it gets the calcium? If you look at osteoporosis cases it's mostly prevelant in countires with protein rich Western diets. But if you don't want to or feel that you can't cut meat, definately cut the refined fats and refined carbohydrates; they are absolute KILLERS. Refined oils and carbs wreak havok in your body. Everyone knows that fat is bad for the heart and sugar bad for diabetes but conversely refined oils is what makes your cells become diabetic in the first place and refined carbs elevates your triglycerides which greatly increases your chances of a cardio vascular incident 'cause it basically turns your blood to sludge, for lack of a better term so... Low fat vegan or low fat non-veg diet with a lot of fruits and veggies is your best bet for anything that ailes you.
Diet and excercise... ughhhh... I wish there was an easier way but if you can commit to making it through the first 3 or 4 weeks it gets MUCH easier :)
And if your serious about losing weight, you have to get serious about counting calories. With the 1hr of exercise a day at 1500-1800 I can drop 1-2 pounds a week easily, at 1000-1200 calories I can average a loss of 1/2 pound a day, but it can be hard if you don't have enough things going on to keep your mind off of food. I'm a passive eater, I love to eat when I'm bored.
Whatever you decide to do, just commit to it for 3-4 weeks and you'll be surprised how much of a habit it becomes and if you do have an "off day" after that how absolutely shitty you feel!

If you knew how bizarre it is for me to think I could inspire others to get healthy. I jokingly keep telling my wife I think I'm anorexic because I know I weigh a lot less and my clothes are 4-5 sizes down but all I see is the same fat person in the mirror starring back at me. Being soooo fat and soooo unhealthy for a long time has taken a huge psychological toll on me. I can't imagine that I am acutually healthy now and on my way to becoming a normal sized human, I mean I've always been fat. Hopefully my mind will start catching up to my body and I can stop being such a fat kid on the inside LOL

:) I suppose. I think I'm gonna wait till my birthday in August before I take more pics. I HATE HATE HATE having my picture taken. If all goes well I should be under 180 by then. I havnt been under 180 since elementry school LOL. Matter of fact last time I was at the weight I am now was the 7th grade. I'm getting my grade shool figure back woohoo!

some short of Benjamin Button, going back to elementary school.

Congrats!

3 years ago I was 180-190lbs, I decided to go down and after some months I was 149lbs which clinically is the best point in relation to my height, the hard work now is staying at that point. But as I love walking 10-14KM everyday and I try to control what I eat (ok ok sometimes I can't resist hahaha) I've maintained that weight 3 years, and I'm pretty happy. Because for people that have never had weight excess, try running and walking around all day with a 33lbs sandbag over you...

For the shake of just seeing the process, the first one was back in 2006 (december) and the second one in a feature film gig (I only have photos working hahaha)
