And here I thought it was the Mexican version of "Deal or No Deal"

drug cartels have taken over. it's sad to hear about the amount of violence going on in mexico right now.

Scary stuff going on in Mexico lately. Rumors of anarchy and civil war on the horizon. Hope they get their act together.

The militarize-the-border types may yet get their way, after all.

The violence hasn't penetrated that much into the US yet, but unless measures of one kind of another are taken - it will.

And then I'd hate to be the border-state governor without National Guard assets to throw at the problem.

When I worked in Mexico I was impressed by the people, the food, and the awe-inspiring catastrophe that was their civil government.

Working there, by the way, left me with some sympathy for immigrants and resident aliens. Being barked at, fingerprinted, photographed and directed to sign blurry documents in a mostly unfamiliar language is a whole lot of no fun. Particularly when uniformed officers stare at you and finger their sidearms, while you're doing it.

And people say you can't get ahead in mexico...

That picture is really odd... one ah ah... two... two! ah ah... -the count

i live north of san diego, and i do work at the border all the time at the big outlet mall.....i'm always watching my back, but it's not too bad on our side of the fence.

I was in Chiapas during the zapatista uprising, even though there was fighting not 10 miles from the town where we were, I never once felt unsafe. (and we were very obviously not locals, everyone could tell.) The drug war is a war of government against its own people. People are not generally violent, just as, say, germans are not more fascist. Whenever you see violence in this world, invariably there's a government behind it.

Reminds me of a newspaper story down in South Africa.

Day 1 headline: "4 decapitated heads found".

Day 2 headline: "4 headless bodies found".

Day 3 headline: "Heads do not match bodies."

Drug related? Did these coolers come from a head shop?

Who cracked the case? The head detective?

I heard one cooler had a couple long necks inside.
