5.1 audio

Most likely if you want to do an easy 5.1 then you should look at Surcode Dolby ProLogic II encoder. It takes 6 audio files and encodes them into two: Left and Right.

When you set up your audio tracks set four aside for music and effects: FrontL FrontR RearL RearR. Then use as many other tracks as you need for dialog form the center channel. Your Music and effects should be pretty straight forward, most of your audio work will be on the dialog channels. Sweeten them up, set their levels, and combine them into one track.

Export all five tracks individually. Additionally, combine all Music and Effects tracks into one file and run in through a 120Hz low pass filter. Take these six files and enter then into the Surcode Software. A Stereo pair will be created that you can then import into two tracks in Avid or you can deliver them individually for some delivery mediums.
