4X4 filters with Chrosziel Mattebox

I pickup a used Chrosziel CWAH 4 3 mattebox and my Lee 4X4 ND wont fit in the 4X4 holder. Am I missing something? It should fit but with the spring loaded clamp all the way released it doesn't reach the filter.
On the RedRock Mattebox you have a frame insert that holds the 4X4 in a 4x5.65 frame but the Chrosziel has a 4X4 frame holder and a 4.5.65 as well.

Lee filters are acrylic arent they Erik?

Take a file to it.

Actually I just replaced an old mattebox with a new Cinebox from Shoot35.
All my 4x4 filters are Tiffen (glass) and I did wonder if they would fit the trays.
They did but they are a very tight fit and need a little effort (force) to insert into the tray.

At the high price of filters..nice knowing its secure I guess ....but will probably drop one when fitting it!

I really like the Cinebox BTW.
It has an excellent "matte system" - which is the prime reason I chose it.

Some are. I have a glass version. Its not that filter is to big but the frame seems bigger than the 4X4 filter. It falls out. Maybe the spring is stuck and not releasing all the way.

:2vrolijk_08:Great so what I learned about lee filters is they aren't actually 4x4 but smaller and don't fit in a mattebox and WD-40 and duct/gaffers tape can fix everything except Lee filters not being manufactured to spec.
I love this place :)

Bit of a bump, but I was just looking at some Lee filters and they're made to metric specs from the looks of things. So they're 100x100mm filters (which is 3.94"x3.94") which could obviously give you some grief with a mattebox.
