Ok I have a 4x4 Chrosziel DV sunshade and now I'm looking at an anamorphic adapter. What is the actual alteration needed to make this combo work? Or does the modification only work with the new mattebox?

Thanks in advance

I have the DV sunshade. Was told my supplier that the new Chrosziel DV Mattebox (difference) has a modification that can carry the anamorphic adapter. The anamorphic adaptor I think sees the edges of the DV sunshade (but only just on the widest settings)

If you go with the DV Mattebox option, you will still have to cut off the overhanging plastic at the front of the anamorphic adaptor. Be prepared to take this risk. The plastic is very tough. Fortunately the adaptor comes apart easily so you can perform the surgery with the optics safely tucked away.

Stores that sell the Chrosziel mattebox and support rods for use with the anamorphic will perform the necessary modification on the anamorphic lens for a fee. Not sure if they'll only do this on anamorphics they sell you with the kit or whether they'll do it for a lens you already own.

Check with Abel Cine Tech (http://www.abelcine.com/ and http://www.mediumblend.com/abelstore/customer/product.php?productid=419&cat=12&page=1) and 16x9 (http://www.16x9inc.com/chrosziel/dvcine/dvx100/), both of which sell the matte box kit.

yes, you need to trim the overhang on the Ana off, but its plastic and cuts very easy, so you should be able to do it yourself, just protect the lens.
