4x3 vs 3x2

Hi everyone.

I am shooting a rehearsal for a film and because is just rehearsal, we are doing on 480i/24pa, but the director wants to see things as similar as the real shooting, so I am shooting with the letterbox on.

The strange thing. When I am importing this material to final cut, it is coming in 3x2, so when I watch this on my tv, the image is stretched. To get a normal 3x2 image, I need to render my project.

There is some setup on HVX that I can change that?
Some one had experienced something similar?

Thank you all!

Don't choose Letterbox choose squeeze mode. That is the native 16:9...not the fake black bar crop that letterbox does.

With FCP edit in a 16:9 timeline. 3:2 is 35mm print/slide film aspect ratio and is not natively supported by the HVX200. When you are finished editing, export a 16:9 MPEG-2 file (if you are burning to DVD). If going straight to tape through a deck, drop your 16:9 sequence(s) into a 4:3 timeline. Yes...you may have to render.
