4x3 or squeeze for instant HD?

If I plan on up converting the footage to HD with magic bullet instant hd, what format do I need to shoot in originally? I read that shooting in 16x9 squeeze mode significantly lowers the resolution of the footage so it seems it would be best to shoot in 4x3 letterbox or just 4x3 planning on losing the top and bottom areas during the upscaling anyway.
Is my idea correct?
I've been shooting anything I planned on upconverting to HD in 16x9 squeeze mode and then upconverting it with good results but if I can gain a little better resolution then I will just shoot 4x3 remembering to frame the shots so that the top and bottom will be lost.
Thanks for any help or advice.

Due to the way the DV codec compresses, either format will end up with about the same resolution (even after zooming in on letterbox). You are better off to just use Squeeze and save yourself the headache. (See Adam Wilt's website if you wanna see the techy comparisons).
