Recorded as AVCHD 1080 24pN (no pulldown), PTool v3.36 "C" settings, transcoded into FCP via ProRes LT, exported out as 720p24 h.264 ("auto", which got it down to less than a 450MB file) for upload to my free Vimeo account.
Lens: Lumix 20mm @ f1.7, manual focused on lights on fireworks barge, GH1 settings: ISO 100, 1/50th, iExposure off, Smooth -2 -2 -2 0, WB Daylight preset. Full manual Creative Movie mode of course. In-cam stereo mics. Panasonic 8GB Class 10 SDHC card.
Edited video is ~21-min. long, longest single clip is about 13:30 min. I stopped & started recording just in case my cam seized-up so I wouldn't lose everything by shooting one 21-min. long clip. In hindsight, this video isn't static or detailed enough to cause problems shooting 24pN.
Funny, but even though I've been shooting video for decades, this is the first time I've shot fireworks, so I was curious to see how/if it would come out. I'm glad I waited until I had a GH13. :smile:
EDIT: Just an added clarification: The crowd & skyline scenes at the beginning of the edit were shot at ISO 200 and the fireworks were shot at ISO 100. Also, the original footage looks better than what's on Vimeo because it was shot at 1080 24pN, and then exported out of FCP via Compressor as 720p24, and further processed by Vimeo. The Vimeo version looks OK, but the original footage looks awesome.
