FS7: 4k pro res using the XDCA extension unit

I have the XDCA extension unit and can shoot HD pro res with the FS7, I wonder if a firmware update will ever enable internal 4k pro res using this unit ?

Pro res HQ with slog3 on the fs7 looks very nice, I know a lot of people say the XAVC is just as good but I've just shot a job in pro res HQ and the images stand out to my eyes as a lot nicer. I don't see why I should need to buy an external recorder to shoot 4k pro res though.

so about 15-20 minutes per 120 gig card ? You're right not ideal but my question was regarding the possibility of the unit to add 4k as an option for internal recording apart from card capacity I wonder if the unit is capable of it.

I remember hearing from NAB a couple of years ago that they had no plans for 4k prores as it's too hardware intensive

4K ProRes takes close to 4x the processing power of HD ProRes to do the compression. It's four times the resolution but there are some savings, so it's not quite at 4x. The more compressed the signal, the more work it is for the processor, hence ProRes HQ requires less computing power than ProRes LT.
