4K MEDIA PLAYER will happen when?

[Kraut69]

Why has no one come out with a reasonably price (even an expensive) generic media player to play 4K video files on any 4K TV, as was made available for HD files?

Like a $10 thumb drive?

Sony and Samsung have them. They're not inexpensive, however, since they obviously target the "early adapters". The 4K delivery system is at its infancy. Comcast promised to release a 4K cable box by September (they have those already in the UK) and the 4K Blu-Ray is expected by Christmas.

PS. I think Red had (has?) one too.

Blu-Ray with H.265?

Blu-Ray with H.265?

Yes, although there's a rather high amount of patent trolling too. IMO, the H265 participants are big enough to plow through them and deliver the players before Christmas (and/or litigate it away, if needed).
