4k for moonlight in the desert?

Also rent some neutral density grad filters incase you need shots with sky in it. You may need to grade the sky later in post.

Please don't go about rigging a 20x from a tutorial. Bring at least one grip who is truly experienced at rigging these. There are certain conditions under which a good key grip will tell you that it is just plain dangerous to fly a 20x, period.

One is ok, more like two or three. 20x's can be a scary thing and things happen pretty quickly with them.

You don't want to pull back on the exposure the way that you have now on your day-to-night conversion. Use flags - get a bit more contrast in there, and then simply pull back the highlights slightly and shift the mid/highs a bit to the blue side. Right now it's looking like you actually shot it at night with no lighting at all, and that's not a look to be going for.

Also, most people don't wear sunglasses in moonlight only scenarios.

For grading the day-for-night, one thing you want to be really conscious of is not clipping any large highlights, such as the sky or large parts of the ground. Otherwise you get a matte look which is not very convincing at all. Specular highlights are ok though.
