480i/24p

Is this correct? Is 480i shooting 480 interlaced and 24p mean shooting 24 frames per second? If so, should I compress in Squeeze at 24p to maintain the look?

It's 24p exactly the same way the DVX (and the XL2) does it -- true progressive 24p, but split up into a 480i stream for recording.

So when working on an Avid MC I should just use a 30i project? Should I compress in Squeeze any certain way, or does it matter once it's in the interlaced project? Should I set different settings somehow to get the best footage possible?
