480 out question

Hi, so let's say that I'm taking some footage that isn't all that important and I don't want to take tons and tons of disk space up on my harddrive, how would I go about exporting the footage out as 480 footage? Could I do this with a usb cable? I'm using Premiere CS3

I am still working on some tests but have had some good luck using TMPGenc 4 and Cineform HD codec to downscale mts files to 864 X 486 square pixel. My last test had a file size of 19 gig per hour compared to DV 13GB/hr. Looked pretty good. I'm still using test clips...Camera is supposed to be here Monday.

Are you asking if you can convert the footage to 480 footage in-camera, and export that to the computer?

If so, then a) No, and b) it wouldn't help. High-def footage from an HMC150 already takes up less space than typical DV standard-def footage. DV footage is 25 megabits per second, and the highest-quality HMC150 footage only takes up about 21 to 24 megabits per second.

Lowest-quality HMC150 HD footage takes up about 1/4 as much space as standard-def DV footage.
