48 Hour film Project last second help

We are starting tomorrow and after perusing many threads and help files I'm still confused as to the best workflow to end up with a DVD that is acceptable to the contest rules. The line that gets me is this:
14. If shot in a 16:9 ratio and/or anamorphic, your film must be letter-boxed. Projector capabilities vary from theater to theater. The projector will probably not be switched to stretch the picture.

As of now I plan on shooting squeeze on my dvx100b, however the Vegas 6 project settings and especially the render settings are my confusion areas.

Thanks for any help!

If you shoot squeeze you take a resolution hit and in this case where you are going to deliver 4:3 anyway - there is zero advantage to it. Don't shoot squeeze for this if they want a 4:3 deliverable.

Shoot letterbox 4:3 or shoot 4:3 and add letterbox in Vegas - I don't do Vegas so I can't tell you how, but I'm sure it has a letterbox filter that you just slap on.

If you shoot 4:3 and letterbox in post you have the advantage of reframing in post by sliding the image up and down behind the black bars.

So shoot 4:3 letterbox or 4:3 and letterbox in post. I would base your decision on how important the framing is to you and whether you think you will have more time to tweak it during the shoot or during post given the time sensitive nature of the contest.
