$4299 for new HVX? To good to be true?

My usual lecture to folks goes like this-- you are a pro buying pro equipment. Price is always a consideration in any business however the lowest price is not always the cheapest. You are buying relationships as much as you are buying product. There are circumstances where a box-pusher like B&H makes sense. There are also circumstances where it is advantageous to buy from an authorized pro dealer. The pro dealer is part of your business network. As far as the Federal and local authorities dealing with these folks, it is very hard to prove fraud and it is a very low priority if actual damage is not done. And it is much more important that the NSA tap our phones and internet connections since we speak so often about crashes, bombs, shoots, fire (wire) and SDI (subversive digital interference).

$4300 for an HVX200 might be too good to be true, but I paid less than that for mine. I did buy it in Tokyo while on a trip, but it can be done. Fortunately I know people in Japan that can help me get it fixed should anything go wrong in the future.

Those guys in Brooklyn sound shady to me, though.

I have read enough message boards to figure out to stay away from royalcamera = broadway photo=photoworld=prestigecameras=regalcameras

And I double check with bizrate.com and resellerratings.com. Plus I triple check with Whois and BBB.

I missed out on the NAB06 special from B&H. It seemed they had a good price and deal.

So, what now? Who has the best price or best package deal? And can you please list the cost. Thanks!

I got a great deal from Samys at the show. They were selling the HVX as a show special for $5100. Now I must get some P2 cards and have been searching for good prices but have not found anything less than $599 (4GB) from B&H, even though I've read the prices are dropping. Anyone have any leads on a good place to purchase the cards? Are there any companies in the mix for aftermarket makers?
