No need to bump so soon, dude. We're just waking up on this side of the world! (sluuuuuuuurp...... ahhh..... coffee)
So you're asking about the Hirose DC connector on the 500. Nope, it's always on when the camera is on AC or DC supply. But what's wired on the other end? I just buy the Hirose, and then solder whatever specific DC plug I need on the other end (all I've needed so far is a single 1/8" (?) M jack for RF audio).
I forget the DC voltage output of the Hirose connector on the 500, but not sure it'd be high enough for a light or monitor. I use the Anton Bauer Powertap for those.
Good Morning to the otherside of the world.....lol
Its a 4 pin Male to Female.
Im using itfromthe power supply.
The LW80 goes to the D connector i think its called..
So again i ask the question?
Do i need to do some thing Different to use a power cable from my Power Charger, connecting to the 500?
cheers
My bad! For some reason when you 1st said ""4-pin", I assumed you were talking about the Hirose connector. The Hirose is on far lef, female, labeled "DC 12V, 1.5A". This is an accessory DC supply, from the camera, to whatever, that only works when cam is on.
The "other" 4-pin is a "4-pin XLR". That is DC INPUT to the camera, from power supply, off-camera battery, etc. No output here.
Depending on your battery mounting plate model (Anton Bauer, IDX, etc), there'll be another connector there also, called D-Tap, Powertap, etc. It's a 2-pin, gives ample amperage for light, monitor, etc. VERY HARD to find from anyone other than AB, IDX, etc.
This last plug (D-Tap) might have a switch on the battery plate (AB does) where you can flip between having DC output on whenever the camera is on, or, only when camera is in record mode. AB calls it "Automatique". GREAT when using a camera light.
