4 part Christian Documentary

Looks good--lots of compression for the downloads, though. I assume for broadcast it's better.

Some thoughts:

Many of the clips looked soft to me--maybe it's the compression.

The 4-part trailer looks a little flat story-wise. It only has clips of each interview, which doesn't grab me, although I see the effect you were going for ("4 lives . . .").

The Iwo Jima guy's clip was very interesting, though if it could have included a hook for me to want to watch more--What happened that set up his "Finding Christ"?

The drug dealer clip was engaging. FYI, and maybe this was the look you were trying to get, but your white fades were 4:3 (over the black bars).

The "medium" clip was interesting, but weaker, IMO. If you are going for the not-for-born-again crowd, it looks a but churchy (filmed in front of a last supper canvas, evangelical jargon and assumptions). The interviewee was somewhat distracting to me--was that a name tag on her lapel? Her purple scarf clashed with the red shirt and the red canvas behind her; and some makeup might have toned down her facial "red zones". She might have also been pulled away from the painting behind her to take away her head shadow and provide a bit shallower DOF. A light thrown in behind her might have helped outline her too. A bit nit-picky here, but the shake effect of the girl's hand also appears in the candle flame, and gives it away as an effect. The group shots of the seance scenes could have been lit more--it was washed and grainy, and the candles were peaking. The group prayer could have really used some lighting. The "other seance" reference shows some of the same clip as the first seance.

I liked the "undocumented immigrant" clip the best, although the interview setup was very distracting. The background was competing with his shirt and was much too busy for my taste.

Well, you asked not to hold back, so I hit the things that caught my attention, but I like the idea, and it was very good in places. Hope you keep up the work, and look forward to seeing your movie, T.V. show, and play at the top of the charts.

And welcome to DVXUser! (BTW, was this filmed on a DVX?)

Thanks for the input and no that wasn't too much. Yes it was all shot of DVX100a. This was my first professional documentary and I'm still working out the kinks of growing a company. Thanks for taking the time to input!
