FS7: 4.3 update to record ISO in Cine EI --- BUT WHERE IN MENU!?!?!?!?!

Apologies in advance for posting one more time. I figured all this arguing regarding the usefulness of missing Sub-Items was worth going straight to Sony's Advanced Support Team.

You just can't stop digging a deeper hole for yourself, can you? Grow up and think before you post.

My camera shows REC/OUT EI APPLIED in my User Menu because I CHOSE TO PUT IT THERE a few minutes ago. That is the whole reason for having a User Menu, so that everyone can make their own. But you have no understanding of how the menus work so you'd rather stomp around yelling and screaming, blaming the camera, calling Sony and the menu system stupid, and getting pissy with people on forum who are trying to give you some information. Like a child. Maybe you are a child, we don't know because you post under a fake name. You don't even have the balls to participate here under your real identity. You came here looking for help with a chip on your shoulder. Look at the silly title of this thread. I invite you to go back and re-read your first few exchanges with Chris just to see what a rookie mistake you were making.

Regardless of whatever you think of the User Menu, someone with the experience you claim to have should immediately known to go a little deeper into the System menus to find what you were after. That is camera operation 101. The User Menus are just aliases for the real menus down below. You want some more shocking news? There are some menus that can't ever be added to the User Menu! Imagine that. How stupid of Sony. But maybe that knowledge will save you some time if you go looking for something and don't find it on the User Menu. Dig a little deeper. Use your best troubleshooting skills before you ask for help and then ***** you didn't get the help in the tone that you wanted it spoon fed to you in.

BTW, when you called Sony they gave you the answer you wanted to hear and make you go away. Do you expect them to get into a debate with you over the phone and point out that it is operator ignorance? Come on, get real. Tjis is what they should have told you . . .when Sony added new functionality to the FS7, long after some people had been using it for years, they should not have added those new menus directly to the User Menu. And they didn't. Do I want them screwing with my User Menu? Not a chance. They added new functionality and then left the decision to the camera owner to decide whether or not that is something they want added to their User Menu or not. That is exactly the way it ought to be done. Why would I want an engineer 6000 miles away on another continent to make a change to the camera that will mess up my customized menus? If you disagree and like the idea of unexpected changes, well, that us too bad, live with it and stop pouting and telling us how your experience with Arri has made you unprepared for dealing with the menus from another manufacturer who has been building electronic video cameras for decades before Arri or Red or BM decided to get into game. You should be asking those companies why they don't do it the right way . . . the Sony way. If they even bother to have such sophisticated functionality on their cameras at all. That's what the guy at Sony should have told you, but was too nice.

BTW, after all this, if you really understood the camera you'd know that REC/OUT EI APPLIED is a function that should be avoided anyway. Sony knows it too but they gave into customer requests so there it is. I just thought I mention that in advance for your next thread about how noisy Sony cameras are!!!!!

This is the funniest argument I've seen on this forum in quite a while, and its nice to see that Doug can still get into it with someone. Now I gotta agree that it seems like a dumb idea to not have that REC/Out feature in the User menu as well, but really who cares. It isn't a big deal and generally the FS7 menu's aren't too bad unless you get into the Rec and Video Out options which I still don't understand after 5 years. However if you really want to get into a tizzy you should save your ire for the A7 menus which seem like they were organized by the same person who does my daughter's bedroom.
