Hi,
I am almost done with the editing of my short film..thanks everyone for solving the audio noise problem I was having..
I shot the entire film as 4:3 ratio..now when I am in the process of making a DVD I was thinking if I can make it a letterbox...so that it looks like a film..

I do not want to put black bars whcih eat up huge portion of the frame..
how can I convert my final output to a widescreen...without loosing the frame area...

Please let me know..

-thanks
Vivek

Unfortunatly your problem is a little like this:

You video is one shape, and you want it to be a different shape, without changing it's shape.

If you change it's aspect ratio, you have to either add or remove something. As you can't add any more picture information to the sides, the solution is to crop a bit of the top and bottom.

That's just the way it is.

Ha ha..that picture was funny and accurate..
Yep you are right..I also thought so before posting it..I might sound too weired...

But here is the thing..
I framed this question after I played my 4:3 avi file on a 17-inch desktop monitor..
what is happening is that when I play the avi of my movie ( the file output at 4:3 - .9 pixel aspect ratio on my laptop) it played with black bars on top and bottom( I was using real player to play this)..and without cropping a bit of the image...
I was just wondering how could this happen...
which is why I thought let me ask tech gurus here ..may be they would have an explanation for me...
