hallo, could you please help me out?
please excuse my bad english, thx.

i ve seen my dvx100b footage on a hd monitor, its at lowend but ok.
my problem is, its only 4:3.
my test with squeeze looked horrible.

so i rent a anamorpht 16:9 lens for my camera, but i have not the chance to see it again on a hd tv.
i found, it was really, really difficult to controll the scharpness.

my question, would you uprez to 16:9 or use the 16:9 lens? (not planning to uprez to hd, only 16:9)

your opinion and experience? i am new with the dvx.

best regards
thomas

thanks. i have read the thread before my posting.
still left the question, wich is "better" uprez in post or 16:9 lens?
i have heard, that the lens give troubles. on the user side my test
with digital anarchy reziser wasnt so good when watching at a hd display.
wich way to go?

Just curious - did you have your "V Detail Freq" set to thin?

yes.
did you watched squezze footage on a hd flat tv and it didnt looked horrible because of poor resolution?
thanks

No, I haven't seen THIN/squeeze on HDTV. I was just trying to help out and I was thinking of trying this myself because I've heard good things about it on this forum. Thanks for letting me know it doesn't work very well.

I've read at this forum that the anamorphic lens gives the best results but is a pain to deal with: hard to mount/plastic construction/light loss?/lens coating problems/ hard to focus/can't use 35mm adapter with/cost of adapter is high. Sorry.

When you use the anamorphic you dump the footage into a 16x9 project and it should stretch to fit when you select the wide screen aspect ratio and then when you export keep it 16x9. You need to use the focus chart that comes with the adapter to get it to focus sharply. I used the anamorphic on RFeyeD here:

thanks john and aram,
@john, thin squeeze looks ok on sdtv, but horrible on hdtv and i do not have the buget for a hvx at the moment, so i want to find a solution.

@aram, very nice film. i like it very much. did you shot it with the dvx? impressive greenscreen compositing, also made with the dvx?

i bought the anamorphot used and there is no manual and chart. would you mail it to me? :)
but how to get the distance between camera and objekt on fast movements as in your film?
is there no other possibility to focus without the chart?
i know many questions, but i have to solve it (otherwise i have to sell my dvx...but whats then.
best regards
thomas
