4:3 SD over SDI?

With some danger I've overlooked some points in the operation manual...

Can the Hpx500 output 4:3 SD over SDI? I got mine on service and just been hired later in December to deliver a 4:3 SD feed to a SNG truck...

99% certain that it will. Set the SDI output to "SD" and change the aspect conversion to "center cut" (Is that what it's called on the 500? or is it "normal"?) and you should get a 4:3, 60i SD NTSC signal on the SDI port. If you're shooting 24p or 30p, they'll be embedded within a 60i signal.

The dealer was quite sure that it works fine they way you describes with center cut, or crop i think it is. I'm in PAL country and will be delivering 50i signal, still a bit puzzled that some networks or clients still wants 4:3 though.

Finally the camera arrives from service next week in time to test it, if it works out as we predict the 500 once again will shine as a very flexible tool to shoot with...4:3 over sdi/shoot dv25 up to 1080p.

You certainly can change the camera to SD and you have to set the crop the way you want it. I remember squeeze, side crop (4:3) and letterbox. Much like a DVX-100 menu. The SDI Output will follow the camera settings.
