...although if or when we'll see one in a camcorder remains to be seen. Specs on this early version have less than stellar DR (~9 stops), but it's nice to see development along these lines.

There are quite a few m4/3 sensors out there that have Global shutter.

The Alexima AM41, Teledyne Dalsa has a sensor, can't remember its name though, sCMOS has one (I think this is the one used in the BMDC), I think CMOSIS also has a 4/3" sensor, and I think ONSemi also makes one.

These sensors have existed for a while now, I can't say why we don't have any Global shutter cameras yet, but it isn't because a lack of sensors.

Global shutter is global shutter. The only difference is how fast it can run in global shutter mode, and these can all do at least 60p.
