4.3 and squeeze again!

Hi all, could someone tell me how much resolution I will lose shooting in squeeze and not 4.3 and if I shoot in 4.3 will I always have the 2 vertical black bars in my finished film. When I spoke to a friend at a film fest he said that all cinemas are 16.9 and that's what I should be shooting in, please advise
