SHORT: 3rd short film - The liberator - sci fi

Hey guys!

Here is the link to my short film "The Liberator" it didn't turn out exactly as i would have liked, but i think it's an achievement non the less. It was made here in Australia.

I'd really appreciate some feedback and your time to give it a look!

Thanks a lot

This was really impressive, sound / foley was superb! I loved the terminatoresque / post apocalyptic vibe.

Thanks! it means a lot to me, heaps of work went into it and we had a great sound designer who i worked with fairly extensively to create the world, a lot of time was spent developing the look and story too.

I have to give you the obligatory oi oi oi! That was fantastic. That's the kind of film I want to see made more of in this country. The problems you had with lost footage really didn't show at all. Production design was nailed, sound was incredible, the story was good and the acting totally suitable for the material. Loved it. I really had to search for anything negative to say about it at all. The closest I could come was that a couple of exterior daylight shots didn't match the consistent cinematic look of the rest of the piece. Most noticeable was the 2 seconds transitional shot of the tyre that looked a bit video and contrasted strongly with the filmic scenes that bookended it. All the indoor shots were controlled beautifully. There is not much local content on tv that rivals what you've achieved here, well done. I'd be interesting in seeing your first two short films after seeing that. Where was it shot? SA?

Wow, thanks so much! trust me you don't want to see my first two films haha, they're pretty awful, they were both small dramas that i made so i could get used to writing, directing actors, writing my music and learning about cinematography etc. I love the Sci-Fi Genre and really wanted to try something ambitious for my 3rd film.

It was actually shot in north Melbourne, Epping area primarily, also an old abandoned clothing factory for the gunfight scene etc.

thanks for the kind words, it really means a lot :)

Actually, that's precisely why I'd like to see them. To reach this level of quality in three steps is inspiring. One of my mates is from Epping, I'll have to post him the link.

Thought the film was very good! Only things I could see possibly wrong was the first opening scene's looked like they were a bit too bright and a couple FX shots with smoke/fog and close up to your actors were very obvious (being nit-picky here). Overall I think this is very impressive for your third outing. Can't wait to see your next one :)
