3rd Party Batteries

I would be concerned with an unnamed product. Lots can buy wholesale from China and EBay them. You have
no idea what you're getting.

I've had my OEM batteries running for over 3 years now and they still have most of their original capacity, say about 90%. This is with my hmc150. While other much cheaper batteries croak after a few months to a year...and are very unreliable given they don't give accurate meter readings etc. I'm not saying all 3rd party batteries are bad, but if you're a professional making money and have clients paying you that money, you need to be sure you're going to get the shots without having to worry about batteries being reliable. If you're just a hobbyist then save the money!

I worry about support. With IDX, there's no hassle and they keep you up and running. I got some 3rd party bats
as a throw in on a charger and they did not meet their mAh rating. .... Off by about a half.

Other than the IDX batteries, what others will work with the AF100? Some need to be decoded dont they? Would this work? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190654291...84.m1423.l2649
The 6800mah rating is bogus, almost 50% more than any battery in the AF100 form factor can deliver. SWIT S-8BG6 is a very good 3d party battery with charge level LEDs and a DC jack built in to power accessories.

i would not recommend it, i own 1 my self, and its far from perfect solution, yes its cheap, but not reliable! its not sits inside the way it should, its kind of slightly turned on a side... , and it also not very tight in place , it does not come out , but if u touch it from the bottom , during handheld for example , it looses the connection with camcorder..... what bring a major problems..... if u r in recording mode - sometimes u loose file, sometimes file is damaged, but camcorder always says - there was a mistake do u want to correct it? u click yes and it takes sometimes several minutes....., BUT ALSO IT CAN DAMAGE you SD CARD - so not convenient during shooting. but also sometimes if put that battery in camcorder it works right away, but sometimes - camcorder dont want to accept it - saying that it cant use it, and u have to try it again and again 10-20 times ...... so again not very convenient. last week i lost an important moment this way..... and i am still pissed of.... about it

i understand that maybe some one got lucky and there were no problems with that china battery , but i was not that lucky!

battery - is too important in my opinion, there are many things that can be cheated, but i dont think u should do it with the power as if there is no power it does not meter what the rest of equipment u use - nothing will work with out the power.

if weight is not an issue - i would recommend , v mount or golden mount big batteries.... that also works great as a counter weight for handheld ....

Love your chargers Mr. Dolgin!
Thank you :-)
Recently one Chinese manufacturer tried to talk us into reselling their batteries. When questioned on their capacity rating, they responded with "we will print the number you tell us to"...

Ah jeez. I'm a cheapskate- but I won't use those "ebay special" OTB batteries.

I've actually had great luck with Ebay $20 batteries for the HVX. I have 4, three of them had reduced life after a couple of years but are still good for about an hour and a half. One is nearly as good as the original panasonic battery, which still give 3 hours of life after 5 years!

So I bought an Ebay battery for the AF100. First thing I noticed is how light it is compared to the original battery. It worked for one cycle, then the camera gave a message as if it were discharged, when it was fully charged. I'll be sticking with original or name brand batteries for the AF.

I've a couple of those, or at least pretty similar 3rd party batteries. There run time is about 1-1.5hr less than the one that came with my AF. There have been several issues i've had like the camera saying that the battery is unusable and I have to take it out and pop it back in. This has only happened immediately once I turn it on, never during shooting (thank god). I have also noticed that at about 45-30min remaining, it suddenly cuts to blinking red and about to die. All and all, these issues are not too bad, as long as you remember to watch out for them but they are an annoyance
