F3: 3G-SDI output w/ RGB444 option

Hi Sony F3 fans,

I'm running up against a problem that is making me feel like an idiot--can one of you help me see what I'm missing here?

I'm trying to record 3G RGB444 from the F3 to an Odyssey7q. I have the RGB option installed on my F3, and the latest firmware installed on the O7q. I've selected 3G RGB444 - Slog from the camera menu.

When I attach the Convergent Designs 3G-SDI cable from the Dual Link SDI A port of the camera to the Odyssey, the Odyssey reports 10-bit 422 and the image is green, which I think usually means it's only getting 1/2 of a 1.5G signal from the camera.

I can't figure out how to get it to send a 3G signal! It's driving me a little batty here on this Sunday afternoon.

Any ideas what I'm missing here? Thanks in advance.

Are you shooting any specific framerate? You could try to go in and out from S&Q mode, and try to see what you get from the B-port also.

If I switch it to 1.5G and use two SDI cables, I still get "green screen" in 1.5 RGB444. But if I switch to 422 in the camera it works fine (as it should, since that only needs 1 1.5G connection).

just shooting 1080 23.98psf. Weird right?

Did you choose the Sony RGB444 mode on the O7Q+?

Um no. I thought it auto-detected the correct data rate, like the Pix 240 does. Where do I choose that on the Odyssey?
EDIT: Figured it out. I had to leave Quad record mode to load the Prores4444. Now it works great. Hope this helps someone else along the way.

Jon
