I plan on running a live event connected to a vision mixer and the cameras will be dotted around the venue and will all be conected via 3G-SDI or HD-SDI, Whichever can do the longest runs basically.

What cabling should i use? considering i came from friewrie, i have no idead what so ever.

Any help is apreciated

You need RG-59 or RG-6 type 75-ohm coax cable, that has been rated to 3GHz (= rated for HD-SDI).
The distance you can go will vary depending on the quality of the cable.

A "standard" RG-59 that is a good reference is Belden model number 1505A. That or equivalent will do the job.
1694A is Belden's RG-6 type.

So which cable will go the max distance?

Everything i find seeam to be towards SDI and not HD-SDI or 3G-SDI.

Will i get better distance with 3G-SDI?

3G-SDI is a signal standard, nothing to do with cable.

HD-SDI cable is rated at 3GHz .. but that's a little different. But yes, that will give you best distance.

HOWEVER; find out first how far you are needing to go; regardless of cable quality, both SD and HD-SDI have their limits as to how far they can go over copper cable. If you are over this limit, you'll need active repeaters or another solution like a fiber-optic link.

I've thought about this quite alot,

I've thought abouthaving all the cameras go back stage and then go to a reclocker and run x number of cables to inside the building, since we don't know where we're going to have the stage yet, it could be from 50m to 500m.

I've also considered using fiber and having the flexibility of running multiple channels down one fiber, but i'd have to consider how much it would cost to reclock every 100m (or whatever the max distabnce is) and how much the cbaling would cost.
