[WTB] 3DS Max version 2.x or 3.x or Lightwave 3D software

Hi, guys, I have an old retro videogame project I'm trying to do and the game editing tools call for old versions of 3DS Max 2 or 3 and I know there's been various point releases so that's why I put the ".x". Also, as I found out, there were plugins for Lightwave 3D as well and the latest 2015 version trial seems to even work with them so I'm putting the call out for a Lightwave license too if that's available. So, I know it's a bit of a pain as the older versions will have USB license dongles and probably need license transfers or login info stuff but it would be of great help so I won't have to wait and wait and pray that something possibly pops up on the auction sites. I know it's a mixed crowd on DVXUser and in film in general as far as graphic design goes, so if someone's been into 3D for a while now and has an old version just sitting on the shelf or in storage, I can promise you it will go toward trying to make something really cool. I don't think Autodesk will do a license transfer. Newtek still will, I think.

Are you sure that newer versions of a program or other programs will not work? What is it that makes those old versions necessary?

Yeah, I know Newtek does, in my research I read it was like a $100 transfer fee which is understandable. For 3DS Max, I wasn't sure as they had hardware dongles at some point in those earlier versions from what I've read so I wondered if it might be an iLok type deal or something like the Davinci Resolve dongles. If not and it's too difficult then that's too bad. Still, if someone might have or know where to find a spare copy or new one out there then I would be happy to hear it. As for the newer versions with the plugins, I've actually gotten copies of 3DS Max 4, 7, and a trial of 8 up and running but none of them have worked as the plugins stop on program boot saying that they weren't designed for that version or are invalid. Seems a little short sighted of the plugin makers but at that time those were the new programs and who would think someone would still have interest almost two decades later, hence my dilemma. This is for the "Nocturne" game by Terminal Reality btw, always loved the way that game looked and I had an idea for something that I wanted to do with it but unless I can get the right tools then it's just something to go on the back burner or I'll have to make do with a modern engine and try to emulate it.
