3D rendering, etc. for squeeze mode

Hey everyone,

I checked here on the site using search, and I'm not sure I got the answer I'm looking for. And... I'm posting this here because I know the DVX has squeeze mode -- not sure about the other cameras out there.

Anyway, If I shoot in squeeze mode and I want to insert images or 3D rendered clips into what I'm editing, what should the dimensions and pixel aspect ratio be? From what I gathered here, I should use a pixel aspect ratio of 1:2.12 and dimensions of 720x480 pixels.

Am I on the right track?

Dave

Sounds good -- thanks! What about if I just want to add in stand-alone images for titles, etc.?

So should artwork have a pixel aspect ratio of 1:2.12 and dimensions of 720x480 pixels?

I only think of this when I'm at work and don't have access to the stuff I can use to actually test it out myself.

Yes, that's correct. What program will you use for the artwork. I'm not sure something like Photoshop will correct for the aspect ratio. Usually you can just create normal artwork, import it into your NLE, and the NLE will handle the resizing. It will recognize your artwork as having square pixels (1:1 ratio).

I would create CG in whatever AR and rez your final product is gonna be. If you're gonna take your squeeze mode and letterbox/change AR, or whatnot, do that first then do the CG at that same rez.

Well, I'd probably be using at least two programs, both of which allow for adjustable pixel aspect ratios, Photoshop and Maxon Cinema 4D.

So if the NLE (Premier in my case) will recognize the original aspect ratio, that's a good thing. (Nod to Martha Stewart.) I'll give that a shot and play around some. If anyone else has any info, chime in!
