3D is probably here to stay.

RE 3d rocked ! for a 3d movie ....better then Avatar ! NO judder it was well done.
Haven t seen the Gulliver's Travel though.

BTW I generally despise 3d movies and haven't seen part 2 and 3/4 of Resident Evil.
Is the 3d one part 5 btw ?:)

somehow I doubt that.

Right, like photography made paintings disappear. Or recordings ended live music.

Apparently, I need to improve upon the way I make jokes on the internet...

For the most part, action movies and kids movies will be 3D and serious dramas and political movies like Clooney's upcoming "The Ides of March" will be 2D. </contributory non-facetious point>

I don't really see many big popcorn movies, but as long as they also offer them in 2D, then whatever. Everyone else can have fun with their 3D glasses.

All I know is that 2D films are closer than 3D films to the way that my eyes & brain see the world in real life.

My brain knows that 3D is artificial, because it is not how we see 3D dimensions in real life. As such, I am further away from the subjects of a 3D film than a 2D film.

I firmly believe that the only way to have realistic 3D on a 2D screen would be to have a system that tracks the viewers eyes, allowing the viewer to focus the image on different parts of the screen.

A good deal of the biggest box office is derived from animated features. As long as studios are putting out films like How To Train Your Dragon in 3D, audiences will pay the premium to see it in that format.
