-36 Master Ped whats the deal?

I'v e noticed that the MP setting on more than one of the Panasonic HPX170 scene files have a MP of -36. I'm curious to what this is related to technically and why it is set this way. The ALIGN scene for example suggests that it reproduces the most accurate colors possible so would this mean that -36 = pure black?

I was thinking pure black could be reached much at around -7 or -8 with the lens cap/marker reading 0% trick.

-36 is crushed pretty far. You can pretty much find pure black by putting the lens cap on, bringing up the "marker", and then lowering the ped until you find a reading of zero on the marker. Anything lower than that is just crushing out detail.

Thanks Barry thats what I was kind of thinking myself just wasnt sure if there was any other reasonings of the MP being so low on a lot of those scenes.

I've been hovering around -15 on my 150.

Just a heads up to try the waveform for black level setting as it's a bit more incremental than the marker.
