FS7: 35mm lens e-mount under 1000 euro

Which set of primes are you looking to obtain?

And Ben, why did you get rid of your Contax set? You loved your Contax! Was it to be able to afford the Zeiss glass you recently obtained? ( Otus, was it? )

I still have the 28-85 and 80-200 and 60mm macro Contax glass just because they are such amazing bargains :)

Sold the others because i had pretty much worked exclusively with them for 5 years and I was a bit too comfortable with them and so wanted to re-inspire myself with new glass and new looks etc.

I don't discount getting more contax in the future :)

The topic starter expressed a desire for prime lenses. Why? What need could he possibly have for a prime? Is it, as is the case with myself and primes, purely a want and not a need?

I 'need' the prime in some situations (mostly in the wide end, 14-50 mm). My standard zoom isn't good enough (and I don't have the money for a real good zoom) in 4K (I have a Sony 18-105 zoom) I love this lens and it's range, but sometimes I want less distortion. (Mostly for industrial environment and sailing ships with straight masts, so any distortion is visible.) Time to change lenses is no problem.

Still experimenting & testing... the Rok Xeens are within my price reach now... but think I'll hold out for the usual suspects...Zeiss CP's and the Canon's are definitely in the running now. At this moment, it's just as hard for me to decide what mount to get. For me, at this juncture, the EF mount almost makes more sense than the PL... but it's always tough to see into the future...

Sunny with clouds:
Canon 24mm 2.8 (1973 -ish)
Rokinon 14 mm 2.8 new
sony 18-105 new
nikkor 50-300 (1982)
Tamron 90mm makro 2.5 (old 1980?)
zuiko 1.2 55mm very very old and used.

All lenses between f8 or f11

Used a arri lut in resolve, sharpen .47 and tweaked a bit.

The lenses that amaze me are Rokinon and Nikkor

Bokeh is so passé, I liker sharpness from here to eternity :-)

And I use WD40 and brake-fluid to soften my lenses

And the shaky camera is a result of the wine
