35mm Adapter

Hey, What's up, dvxuser. In 2005 I was filming with the DVX. Which was around the same time I began doing research on the HVX and 35mm Adapter look. 4 years later in 2009 I finally bought an HVX towards that look but I didn't have the money to buy the 35mm Adapter. Now in 2011 I do. But 5 years later, after DSLR's have TAKEN OVER 2010, I would like to know if 35mm Adapters are still 'in'. Are they still acceptable, respected? Or has technology come so far that people are scoffing at this technology? Please let me know.

Also, if it's not too much:
The only lenses I know of are Brevis, Red Rock and Letus. Are these still the top 3? If so, which is better in your opinion between the 3? Do they even make these anymore? Are there any cheaper/better ones now? If so, which ones? Thank you!

now is a REALLY good time to pick up a second hand 35mm adapter. they are just as viable a production tool as ever! and several GREAT deals can be had out there. on this and other forums, as well as ebay, craigslist, etc...

the DSLR trend has made adapters a little less appealing to many people. i personally sold off my brevis rig earlier this year. as i thought that a DSLR would be less cumbersome to work with (and they are - to a degree) and would do double duty as a still camera (which they do - in many, BUT NOT ALL cases)

i regret selling my rig. because once i used a 5Dll for a while, i just didnt dig it that much. and it seems every DSLR is a huge compromise at one thing or another...

if you want a DSLR - great. they can be very handy and are superb for SOME uses. but a video cam + adapter rig is GREAT as well.

brevis, letus, redrock, sgpro (shoot35) cinemek. all good options. each has their good and bad points. but if youve never used one, you wont be jaded to one feature/function/idiosyncrasy or another. so any of them will do fine.

what i LOVE about both DSLRs as well as 35mm adapters, is there are a lot of interesting, creative and affordable ways to tweak and accessorize them for some stylized end results...

Thanks. I NEVER intend on buying a DSLR. I have a rule: The quicker it comes, the quicker it goes.
I'll stick with the 35mm, just wanted to know if they were still hot, relevant, necessary, or are they past their prime.

I dont know if your still looking but im selling an SGpro adapter with rails and all the extra goodies. pm me if interested
