Pros and cons - I do not shoot weddings but here is my humble opinion. I think the adaptors give a nice organic look that is impossible to get with a VDSLR. The resolution while reduced over the stock lens is usually still somewhat higher than the VDSLRs depending on what focussing screen you use.

If you are using a good video camera you should get no aliasing or moire and if it does exist the adaptor can somewhat add a softness to it.They do have a look however and the blown out bits are easy to spot for those in the know.

They can be front heavy, lose light, need constant attention and adjustment to get bang on focus and you can forget to turn the thing on and it is a PITA to try and remove a fixed pattern all over your footage. Under pressure at a wedding - do you need the hassle?

I have an SGBLADE and a GH1 and a 5D Mark II. I prefer the adaptor footage all the time except in low light. Shooting weddings - you need Low light capability. The VDSLRs are just plain easier to use in a one take situation like weddings, they are lighter and all you need really is the camera a tripod, big compact flash cards and batteries - so you can travel light. You can even put the thing on a steadicam a lot easier than an adaptor rig. An they take AMAZING stills.

There are some amazing wedding shooters on Vimeo and most of them use VDSLRs. That's where they shine. My two cents anyway. I would imagine that as a general observation - wanna shoot something that allows many takes such as a a film, commercial, music video,tv show - perhaps use an adaptor. Wanna do anything geurilla style or under pressure to get the take right first time - VDSLR. YMMV and it's horses for courses so you can pick but there you go. Hope that helps.
