35mm adapter for EX1 - Brevis vs. Letus

I'm doing a bit of research, and would like to purchase either the Letus35 Extreme or the Brevis35.. I'm not convinced which is better at this point.

I do have a set of M42 mount lenses which Brevis has an option for, so I'm leaning more towards that one unless anyone has some words of advice?

I have the EX + Letus set-up and am more than pleased. As someone who used the Letus FE, the new Extreme is a phenomenal upgrade as it retains all of what was good abou the FE, and improves on everything and adds a ton of new features. I know the Brevis is a great unit, but i dont think you can beat the Extreme for the price. The brevis doesn't flip it without an added module and 1/2 stop of light loss?

Are you kidding me? Thats unheard of.

Thanks for the link.. I definitely learned some interesting stuff.

I wonder how Letus is going to fix the problem

Hien Le is working on a piece of glass to correct the problem with the EX1 lens and it's due soon.

That's cool, could you contact me when that is released? I've seen other footage shot with the EX1 and Letus and there doesn't seem to be too big of a problem there, just an irritation I'm sure.

I just ran some tests on charts with my EX on both the Letus and Brevis Flip with both the Brevis and an SGPro.

It was clear to me that none of the adapters are optimized for the EX yet. The corners are very soft if your EX iris is anywhere near wide open, so for indoor work it is dicey at best.
On my camera the Brevis did better and was able to get full SLR viewing area while the Letus needed more zoom in. Since other people seem to have had opposite results ( Philip Bloom) you'll have to take it all with a grain of salt though. Perhaps my letus is a little off center though it looks similar to other peoples results.

Because the ideal focus points for center and corner are diffferent, you'll find that if you focus on the center with an auto push on the GG or just quickly eyeball the center of the grain your corners will suffer badly. I focused a little past the center for the best compromise. Doing that I found I needed to get the Ex iris to 5.6 for half decent general focus and f8 was better on all the units. So you could probably get very good images outside. That said , both Brevis and Letus say they are working on fixes and Letus has estimated just a few weeks.

if you really want to be sure you could wait until these guys have got their fixes in place. I bought based on reports that EX Letus combo was fine and have had to turn down rentals because I felt it wasn't ready yet.

No one tested the EX1 with the M2?

I know Brian over at Red Rock has shot a short with the EX1/M2 but it was done under studio lighting conditions. I'd be interested to see how other people have got on with them.

SG-Pro with EX1 ??????

SG-Pro with EX1 ??????

HI!

i have an SG-pro and is wondering about buying the Sony EX1 but i need to know that they work good together!?

Anyone tried them?????

The EX1 has 77mm filter threading and The SG-pro only 72mm is that a problem, or could that be easily fixed with a ring or adapeter???

The EX1 only works with the flip module in place. You will need a 77-72mm step down ring. Here are some grabs:

The EX1 does not seem to be working that well with any adapter on the market right now, but we are all hard at work trying to improve this.

Incredibly unreal, isn't it? Looks like stock lens at all corners. This fix actually just made it harder to resist an EX-1 regardless of how soon NAB is. =\
