FOOTAGE FROM THE EXTREME35/B4 PROTOTYPE in the 35mm adapter section!

Would you buy a Letus Extreme35 for b4 cameras for under 5k?

1:1 aspect ratio to super35mm film

PL mount and still lens mounts

On par optically with the P+S pro35 (including image flip)

under $5000!

Its just around the corner!

would you buy it?

The Letus Extreme is supposed to come out with a relay lens, so the best adapter on the market (IMO) paired with a direct B4-compatible relay lens, probably all for way way less than $5,000? Yes I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

So that means you and I Barry are the yes votes. Good news on the Letus Extreme. Shall keep my eyes open.

if the image were very sharp and it was quick to use I would get it. the thing that turns me off of using adapters on shoots is the time lost in tweaking etc

LE is 1200. A good relay lens sturdy enough to maintain backfocus for 2000.

I think 3500 would be a good price.

As soon as someone comes out with one either for my LE or SG I'll be buying and HPX 500 in a heartbeat. I don't do enough ENG/DOC/Reality based work to warrent buying one now. I don't like 2/3" for drama. Still too much DOF. This would definitely appeal to folks like me. If needs be, I'd cough up 5G. It's worth it.

I saw the Fujinon HD Cine Super HAe12x9.5 today its a 9.5 - 114mm zoom in action. And it was beautiful. Not relevant really, but I am looking for a price.

It seems like a relay for letus would be WELL UNDER 5K, but I could be wrong.

If so, an upgrade to a 500 body (no lens) would make alot of sense coming from an HVX if you already own the extreme, P2 cards and 35mm lenses. Great lowlight, balanced rig, no dealing with bumping the camera focus, etc

P+S PRO35 like adapter for 2/3" HD/SD cameras with relay lens

1:1 aspect ratio to super35mm film

PL mount and still lens mounts

On par optically with the P+S pro35 (including image flip)

All at under $5000

Thanks Hunter for the poll (yes, I asked him to poll). I am quite surprise not many people are interested in this relay lens. Well, we (Letus, of course) had a working prototype of the B4 relay that is, according to Hunter, sharper than the P+S Technik that he rented (Hunter, why don't you show some footage if that doesn't violate the copyright you mentioned about the interview.) No vignetting. We also have came up with XL and HD relay solution. Next would be XDCAM, which is pretty no brainer. The glass for the B4 is expensive though that's why I poll to see if it is worthed to us to make our hand dirty. As you know, no optical company would do less than 100 custom lens set. As this one, we need precise FL/engineering(angle, spacing, coating, materials of each individual glass in the lens set.) We used less than mediocre glass on the prototype (well, it's a prototype), so final version would be much better.

I'm not sure if people knew this poll was for Letus to gauge interest. If everyone knew that this is possibly "coming soon", I think this would see a bigger response.

Also, Letus would be the only game in town besides the P&S!

I think an HPX500 + letus is an interesting price point, that those with sub $10K cameras/35mm adapters would seriously look at. Those already with 2/3" chip cameras, I think it's a no brainer... perhaps some footage would help create some buzz.

please please please make this - i would pay for it before it was complete - that is how much I would want this - it would be a tremendous tool to have

I will see if I can post some stills soon from footage from the working prototype and maybe even some photos of the actual extreme35 B4 rig.

Hunter, I'm not a Letus owner. I own a Brevis. Would that relay work on something from another company? If so, consider me a buyer. Its the fact that such adapter doesn't exist yet that I haven't invested on the HPX500.

I just can't find myself investing so much on digiprimes. And renting is no option over here (no rental houses!). So the only option was for a 35mm adapter to work on 2/3 to make High End TVC's and Films.

I think it is just made for this extreme35 system, there are no steprings or any thing like that, just solid mount from b4 mount to the adapter. Maybe the adapter masters could make one...but i'm not sure they would want to. I will try to post something soon.

Hien,

You make this and I guarantee you will sell them all in a hearbeat. I get loads of emails every week about people asking me if I have used any of my 35mm adaptors with my XDCAM HD f350.

I have the B3 to B4 adaptor so either would be fine. But, the XDCAM HD F350 attached to a relay based extreme would be a stunning film making combo.

My guy at Mitcorp, one of the biggest Sony dealers in Europe is desperate to see footage of the exreme coupled with the EX, if your extreme could be so modular that you could use it on an ex1 or a b4/ b3 just with an attachment you would have a license to print money.

You interested in a UK dealer for the extreme by the way?

If it's that close to being a product, then yes absolutely I would buy one. There are a lot of people looking for this solution, I'm just not sure they read this sub-forum.

If the relay is built as well as the LE, I'm sure most rental houses would be happy to have one with a PL mount.
