350 with Avid, and Psf

I have two questions.

I'm gonig to shoot a project with the PMW350, and yesterday i got phone
from the post, and they told me that the Avid media composer 4, which
support XDCAM EX throgh AMA, cant open the 350 clips. and the only way
is by exporting them to MXF via clip browser 2.6.

Does any of you worked with the 350 clips in Avid?

The second issue he told me about is that tha XDCAm EX progressive in
25P is actually Psf, which records progresive into Interlace codec. He
also told me that because it not a true Progresive it will be harder to
convert it to Ntsc if will be needed.

Is the EX3, and 350 25P is Psf and not true progresive, and if so, is it really a problem to convert it to ntsc.

thanks

Amos

I have not shot a 350. However I do own an EX1. And I will say this. The progressive modes are truly progressive as recorded onto the cards. I cannot say what comes out of the SDI port, but I have heard that is PsF. A quick look at the user manual should clear up any confusion about this quickly.

In regards to the Clip Browser, this was a standard affair when the EX1 was introduced. And frankly, whether the project comes into the Avid via AMA or not should be immaterial unless they are in a HUGE hurry to edit the footage. AMA access is wonderful if you are on a short deadline, but under ordinary circumstances, you want to bring the material into the Avid system anyway and not operate without a backup. Which is the operating mode when using AMA.

As for conversion to NTSC, I'll leave that to people more knowledgeable than myself.
