35, 16, DVCPROHD, DV25 comparison @ PIXAR

Hey folks-
I have been asked to be involved in a format comparison/class at Pixar. I feel quite confident in my abilities to teach them about the HVX in most areas except 1080i. I simply have not shot any 1080i due to the fact that I have no proper way to view it. I would just say "Let's do this comparison in 720p", but this is PIXAR! They are gonna' want to see 1080i too. Of course I am going to be running some tests this week and reading like a mad dog, but my main concern is the proper way to work with the footage for comparison to film.
You guys/gals got any comments?

Well, make sure you shoot 1080/24p, not just 1080i.

Canopus Edius Broadcast supports every 1080 mode, and FCP 5.1 can import & strip pulldown out of 1080/24pA footage.

You can play back from the camera itself too if you need to.

You can only view 1080i natively on a CRT display. All fixed pixel devices (plasma, DLP, LCD, LCOS/D-ILA, SXRD) will convert the signal to progressive scan and then scale them to their fixed display resolution to display it.

You should always use a multi-sync CRT display if you want to compare different formats fairly and accurately. I use a 24" widescreen Sony Trinitron monitor when I need to make such comparisons and it can double as a color correction monitor.
