GH3 35-10mm F2.8 shipping in the US now!

I'm looking at getting one soon. I like the 12-35 a lot so having both would be a great pair. When you use the Canon 24-105 do you lock the F-Stop at F4 with a Canon camera or are you using a electronic mount.

Eric,

I'm using a dumb mount, so reserve the 24-105/4 for controlled lighting scenarios. Almost always film at f/4, but I keep a 5D3 in the bag for stills, & occasionally use it to stop down the lens. I love the 4:1 range of the Canon, but hope I can deal with the Lumix instead.

Best,
B

Just received mine from LensRentals.

Didn't think about the awesomenity of the inner focus mechanism in full until I was simultaneously sorting some eBay-bound goods, and encountered the old Sony 1.7x teleconverter from my long-since-sold PD150. It sits on this lens like a chieftain with full zoom-through goodness. Constant f2.8 120-340 equivalent, anyone?

Have a small shoot for it tomorrow and then some play time. I'll keep in touch.

Actually, the ETC mode is x2.6 I believe. So actually, you have a ~155mm-442mm. Would love to see pics of the converter and pics with it. Flare, an issue? How heavy is that thing?

Also, after testing the OIS of this 35-100 in video mode, I must say, Panasonic users have been missing out. I used to be one of those that shrugged off the whining for IBIS, siding with those remarking things such as "It's overrated, stop drinking so much coffee, use the proper equipment if you want stabilization." etc. Basically, these are Panasonic faithfuls knowing they won't get the IBIS and justify just so. Although it is true, Panasonic most likely will not have an IBIS body any time soon, it sucks knowing there's only 2 high quality lenses in Panasonic's lineup that have stabilization for video.

In my humble opinion, I think the key to a lot of m43's success is that everyone was adapting their old glass to it. To not have IBIS and focus peaking is a disregard to many users who stuck by Panasonic while they were/are still developing their system. Can you imagine yourself sticking with m43 for so long if you couldn't adapt all the glass you did? People keep saying users like us on dvxuser are a niche market and represent a small part of who Panasonic targets, and therefore, don't cater to us. If so, explain the GH3.

In spite of it all, I love this lens. lol. Go Panasonic.

+1 This is spot on

Of course the 35-100/2.8 is brighter but at f4 is it any sharper? I use the 17-40 and 24-105 f4s and they seem fine to me. Why are you putting the 24-105 on the shelf?
