32gb P2

I read somewhere (probably here!) that 32GB P2 cards were schedualed to arrive by the end of 2007.... is that still the thinking? bearing in mind that the 16gb's were DUE at NAB yet even now there are still supply problems :(

The reason that I ask is that I reckon that 2x32GB P2 cards would do me in terms of record time so am loath to invest in 16GB's especially as they'll end up in a draw gathering dust like a 4GB card I bought for $1200 less than a year ago!
Your thoughts appreciated!

Is that November 2007... nodding or November 2007 they'll be available when there available i.e. July 2008?

Good reason for hope...

If Panasonic can resolve the supply/mfg/logistics issues for the 16gb card, then the 32gb card is probably going to be a much smoother rollout.

That assumes no technology issues related to the software to address the larger memory.

In europe the 16 gb is not even mentioned on the "Panasonic Broadcast Europe" site (also not the HPX500). I think we Europeans will not see both before Summer 2008!!!! We are always last !!!! :-(((((

I was at a Panasonic workshop in LA in May with several Panasonic reps, some from Japan. The Panasonic reps said maybe Thanksgiving and then coughed and two of them agreed that means more like Christmas. And my guess, only a guess, is that they will be as hard to get right away as the 16s have been.

Shipping and availability are two entirely different concepts for Panasonic and p2 cards.

Wish it were otherwise. And I wonder why the company isn't increasing output, or has some explanation of why so little cards are available.

The whole p2 card market supply isn't going to make the company's highlight reel.

Well I got my 16GB P2 in June (in Germany)... two days after I called my dealer, without pre-ordering.

But I have to admit, it's strange how they roll out...

Has Hoodman found out that the firm ware update has happened yet? Any word on the Hoodman H2? Anything? At all?
They'd make a real good impression during this P2 drought if they could get some out on the market.

Considering Panasonic's track record of unreliable estimates, I would take the November 2007 date with a grain of salt...

Not to be a negative nancy, but I'm still recovering from the 16gig release.

While it's true that Panasonic has a track record of delayed ship dates, my feeling is: Better Late, Than On Time With Crap.

In other words, rather than rush the product to market with major problems, Panasonic solves major problems first. So, whenever I hear a date from Panasonic, I know that it could be delayed up to a year, but it least it will be done right.
