32gb cards w/ex1

Newbie to the EX1 - so forgive me if discussed in the past
I have just inherited an EX1 - firmware 1.11 trying to use the Kensington adapter with a Ritek 32gb lightening series (class 6). camera telling me can't format the cards - need to restore media.

is this a problem with the firmware, adapter , card or a combination of the above?

1 more question - anyone using the PHU-120K? pro's/con's ? how does it mount to the camera without blocking any switches/button settings?

any info greatly appreciated.
 
There was MONTHS of discussion regarding the adapters and the cards, all gleaned down to just a few brands of adapters and a few brands of cards that work. I hate telling people to do a search, but literally, this information was the hottest thread on several boards for the entire summer.
